Savera OS

Savera is Free and Open Source (FOSS) Operating System (OS) targeting desktop (home and professional) users.

The core of the operating system is based on stable upstream Linux distribution which is very conservative and is very hard to break in day to day usage.

On top of the solid stable core, you can install all your “Latest and Greatest” Desktop Apps

Since desktop apps are powered by flatpak technology and flathub repository so they are always upto date. Some of the popular apps you can run are:

  • Google Chrome Browser
  • OpenShot Video Editor
  • LibreOffice Apps
  • Inkscape Vector Graphics Editor
  • PDF Slice

You can browse all the apps available at Flatpak App Store

The name

Savera means “morning” – It’s like a new beginning in desktop linux offerings. The default’s have been carefully chosen. So it’s indeed opinionated to an extent, the sole purpose of which is to provide you (the user) with a stable, traditional desktop environment that let’s you focus on your work – and not on the desktop operating system itself.

The beginning

Savera is freely available for you to use and tinker, but originally it started as a result of our need for a simple, stable desktop OS that is easy to install, packs everything we need and runs latest Linux apps.

We have been using it for quite a while and during this period we discovered need for various small and important tweaks and improvements. We included all the good stuff for you to enjoy!
